CT Man Sitting In Kitchen Critical After Being Shot Through Window, Police Say

The incident took place in New Haven County around 10:15 p.m., Sunday, May 14 in the area of Level Street near Brookside Avenue in New Haven.

New Haven Police officers were dispatched to the area after a ShotSpotter indicated some 36 gunshots in the near, said Capt. Rose Dell, of the New Haven Police.

When officers arrived they were told a man had been shot, she added.

The victim was immediately transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital by ambulance, and medical staff informed the police that he suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound.

"The victim is now in critical but stable condition," Dell said.

Detectives from the department's Major Crimes Unit and Bureau of Identification responded to the scene to collect evidence and speak to witnesses. 

Investigators have learned that the victim was sitting in the kitchen of his home when a bullet traveled through a window and struck him, the captain said.

The New Haven Police Department is asking for the public's help in solving this incident, Dell said.
